| Mountain Biking.....
Morzine, Les Gets and the surrounding area of the Portes du Soleil is one of Europe's (if not the worlds) foremost mountain biking regions. The depth and variety of riding is amazing. Weather you like cross country, freeride or downhill there is something here for all tastes. You are sure to test your ability, fitness and desire for adrenaline. With 23 bike carrying lifts you get easy access to all regions of the area. If you want to find a big loop into the quiet areas of the mountains, the North Shore area at Chatel & Morgins or to sample 1 of the 9 permanent downhill courses it is all within easy reach. The area is so big that after 3 years we are still finding new trails. With healthy competition between each of the Portes du Soleils resorts you can be sure the territory is constantly being developed with new features every year. Last year was the Vario Park in Chatel before that Kona got together with Les Gets to create a new whistler style jump park. The chalet is run by bikers for bikers and we have everything you need. Secure storage, cleaning area, all weather any time fettling area and a drying room. The season starts in mid June and finishes in mid September with a limited lift service operating for the first and last 2 weeks. If you like pedalling and don't require the lifts then we can accommodate outside these times when the town is reasonably quiet. We try and keep things simple for the summer so offer 1 weeks self catering with no transfers for £160 (Transfers can be arranged). If you would like to be catered for, this can be arranged. Just give Kev, Ang or Paul a call to discuss your requirements. Bike Hire – We have a working relationship with many shops and it should be possible to get the ride that you require on arrival. However it can sometimes be advantageous to pre book, which we will be happy to arrange.
By Car Sometimes the easiest way when carrying lots of luggage and tools. You can reach Morzine via Calais using the usual ferry operaters or eurotunnel. Please contact them for prices or Norfolkine lands in Dunkerque just a few miles north of Calais and are no frills, price competitive ferry service. It normally takes between 9 and 10 hours for the rest of the journey to our chalet using the autoroutes (allow about 35 euros for tolls). By Air A large portion of people choose to fly using Easyjet. Although other airlines like British Airways and Swiss Air are now sometimes as good value. In the summer months if you book far enough in advance flights are relatively cheap. Transfers can be arranged. A surcharge is sometimes required for bike carriage on planes. To be sure it is best to check with your airline before travelling. |
